本作品は、2022年に開催したエキシビジョン「Rolling eyes」を一冊の本に落とし込んだ作品です。よかったら過去の投稿も参照してみてください。 オリジナル Rolling eyesは、ポルノの中で白目を剥いた男性の”スクリーンショット"と、作者が観た映画やドキュメンタリーの中でパンチラインとして心に響いた”字幕”を合成した作品です。 展示では、その画像たちを小さな部屋いっぱいに張りつけて、暗い電灯と自身を写す鏡の中で、言葉とイメージに溺れるという体験をするというものでした。展示では、多くの人が写真とはまったく趣旨の異なった字幕のついた画像を見て、そのような”字幕のついたポルノ”、時として人種問題やジェンダーについて語るポルノが存在したと、受け入れてしまう様子が印象的でした。 本作「Rolling eyes - peel out edit」は、展示の終了後に壁から剥ぎ取られビリビリになった写真たちをスキャンして会場の様子を交えながら、１冊の本にまとめたものです。オリジナルパートと同様に、無作為性の追求と逃れられない作為性、コンセプトからの解放への希求とその結果出てくるものは何なのか、やっぱり生まれてしまう新しいコンテキストなのか、、、、という疑問から出発しています。ポルノやアートが好きな人やポルノもアートと思っている、ポルノの場面にも美しい瞬間を見出した事がある人に是非見ていただきたい。 Rolling eyes - peel out edit 68 pages 28.7 × 20.5 cm (A4 変形) 手製本(表紙のデザインが一点づつ異なります) Cover design :　岸田紘之 Edition 100 定価 : ¥3700 This work is a compilation of the exhibition "Rolling Eyes" held in 2022 into a single book. The original "Rolling Eyes" is a work that combines "screenshots" of men rolling their eyes in pornography with "subtitles" that left a lasting impact on me from movies and documentaries I've watched. In the exhibition, these images were plastered all over a small room, creating an immersive experience where visitors could lose themselves in the words and images under dim lighting and reflections of themselves in mirrors. It was striking to see how many people, upon viewing the images paired with subtitles that had nothing to do with the photos, accepted the existence of such "subtitled pornography," at times even addressing issues of race or gender. This book, "Rolling Eyes - Peel Out Edit," was created by scanning the torn photos that were ripped off the walls after the exhibition, and compiling them together with scenes from the venue. Just like the original part, this work begins with questions about the pursuit of randomness, the inescapable nature of intentionality, the desire to break free from concepts, and what emerges from that—perhaps it's a new context that inevitably forms. I hope this book will be appreciated by those who love both porn and art, those who view porn as art, or those who have found beauty in moments within pornographic scenes.
